How are days allocated ?
Each owner may book 1/3 of their total allocated yearly days in
each trimester = booking block of four months. The booking trimesters are:
| Spring into Summer
|
Summer into Autumn
|
Winter |
| 1st of October – 31st of
January |
1st of February – 31st of
May |
1st of June – 31st of September |
Example: Owners with a 10% share = 33 days booked access per year will book
11 days in each of these trimesters. This includes a guaranteed 10% share of al weekends and public holidays. Days have to be used in the same trimester and cannot brought forward.
How are bookings made?
Bookings open 4 weeks before each new trimester starts. They
can be made conveniently via the Internet owner
login page or by phone 1800-121206. You can book your
days at any time until 9 a.m. the same day. Bookings for weekends and public holidays are assigned based on a "wishlist" system. Sydney Boatshare guarantees you will receive your share of weekend days and public holiday days as YOU REQUEST them (and not as they become available) and operates an advanced weekend allocation system. We guarantee you will be able to use your boat on exactly those weekends you would like to and you have equal access to the boat.
Standy use (see
below) applies if a boat is not booked after 9 am.
Can I cancel my booked day if
the weather is bad?
Bad weather on your booked day? Not feeling well enough ? There is
complete flexibility with booking change-arounds until 7 am on the booked
day. You can change your existing bookings to other available
dates. There is no charge, no penalty - and no restriction on
the number of times you can do so. Until 7 am you can even cancel
completely and get the day credited back to your entitlements.
Can I use my boat overnight?
Yes, you can of course take your boat overnight and sleep
on board – we encourage you to take advantage of the
luxurious amenities on board. Our service includes linen and arrangement of guest berthing at Pittwater and Port Stephens. Our boats can be booked for single days, weekend days, whole weekends or holiday periods of up to seven days. There is no extra charge for overnight stays, if you stay a full weekend it will only cost you two days of your entitlements.
What is Standby-Use?
If a vessel is unbooked after 9 a.m. on any day it’s
yours for the day on standby, means you will not have to use
a day of your entitlements. Call the office or check the internet
reservation system for vessel booking status. There is no
limit to standby use – if the boat is available after 9
am you can take it out for the day - if you are first to call. A nominal charge of $75
for cleaning applies on standby days only.
Can I sell my share in the boat
at any time?
You can sell your ownership in the boat and all rights associated
with it at any time. If you should decide to get out of the arrangement at any time after the first year, we will also include your share in our marketing and make it available to a prospective new owner. Because the initial term of the agreement is just under 3 years, you know that there will be a precise day where you can expect your share of the assett to flow back to you.
What is depreciation and how
does it work?
Like with a car, a boat “depreciates” over time,
means it’s value decreases with the years. The highest
depreciation is in the early years and then flatens out after
a number of years. Because we offer true ownership, you will receive your share percentage of the resale price of your boat back when it is sold. Typically, our boats depreciate between 35 and 45 % in a 3 year period.
When and how can the boat be
sold?
After just under three years, the syndicate will be brought to an end with a valuation and survey of the boat. Owners who wish to leave the boat can then cash in on their share in the boat or upgrade to a newer or larger vessel. Sydney Boatshare participates with 15% in the net proceeds of the boat sale. Owners who wish to continue with the same boat can join a new syndicate that will run the same type of boat for another term of under 3 years.
What about Repairs, Maintenance
and Management?
Sydney Boatshare manages all operational aspects of the vessel.
daily cleaning including
fresh linnen, weekly engine and mechanical check, replacement
of equipment as required, antifouling, polishing, refuelling and valet parking service. We even keep a minibar ready for
you on your booked days at no extra cost. Stroll-on and stroll
off – that’s smart boating.
How long is the allocation waiting
time?
Unlike other boatshare companies, your boat is in the water
now, it does not need to be built first, and then allocated
to a minimum number of owners - which sometimes can take up
to 6 month. Once the paperwork is done you are ready to take your boat out and enjoy your new lifestyle addition.
